I have tried to write this review twice now and I am getting too carried away so I am just going to make it short and sweet. I adored Noah and because of that for about half the book I was wishing that Gage would walk into a tree or something. Actually, it was worse than that. Last night he was on my Top Ten Hit List.I think this is the most enjoyable Stormy Glenn story that I have read. I like how she twisted the shifter world a bit. I was not sure that I was going to like the twist at first. I had one of those "seriously?" moments but it fit her world. My one of my favorite quotes from the book was: "For what we've done, we deserve to die.""I agree." Gage felt Noah tense in his arms, and the purring stopped. "However, my Noah does not like bloodshed. It messes up his floors."

This book was recommended to me by Nikyta, who is batting 100% with her recommendations to me. I really wasn't so sure I would like this book as much as I did because I'm not a big fan of cats. There I said it. I'm very much a dog person. Cats just don't seem to like me, lol. After reading this book I may have to change my mind about cats because I really had a great time reading this book.I loved the MCs Noah and Gage. This book was fun, quirky and so unexpected. Who would have thought that the King of the Pride would be a house cat with OCD? I think this is the first time I've read a story where the character had OCD and it was written so well in the story.I loved how different Noah and Gage were, but that they fit so well together. I loved how Gage freaked a little when he saw Noah shift for the first time and he left. It's funny because Gage is this big bad fearless assassin, and he runs. But not for long. Gage goes looking for Noah and finds him just in time to prevent Noah's assassination.I don't want to give away too many details, but I was surprised and happy about all the little surprises about the characters that made this story unique. The secondary characters were great and I can't wait to read their stories. As soon as I finished this I went looking for book 2. I was disappointed it wasn't out yet. I am going to write Ms. Glenn and find out what the hold up is, LOL. I highly recommend this book if you want a good fun read.

Very shallow fluffy PWP, and I mean it, this gives mud puddles depth. It was fun though, and a perfect intermission for sufferers of book hangovers!

A royal virgin shifter-cat with healing powers and ability to lube-prep himself when aroused. Noah could feel his aching hole opening, the natural lube he created warming inside him.Human fantasy is endless :-) I'll give you that. This story is your ordinary sugar romance novel. There were few funny moments but apart from that you will hardly notice any change in your heart beat. An easy read with no thoughts afterwards. I can't give it more than 2 stars because there was nothing beyond that.

All I've got to say is... When is the next one coming out? LOVED this book! Noah starts out sweet, niave, and endearing. And although he loses the niavete, watching him grow and change during the story was like enjoying a fine wine. Stimulating to the senses. I laughed, cried, and got mad. Gage offers a wonderful counterpoint to Noah. The street-wise, hard-core assassin learns some amazing truths to life -like it's not worth living if you don't have someone to love. I eagerly await the next one!

This book, first in a new series, is funny, has wonderful characters, a great story, and if it is typical for what is to come, this series promises much entertainment. The idea of having a royal line of cat shifters who are supposed to rule each pride is somewhat unusual, but the way to recognize these royals is priceless. This first volume made me laugh out loud at some of Noah's comments and reactions to what was going on. Gage, in his stoically mercenary attitude, stole my heart as well, especially when he began to learn and adjust to his new circumstances. Mixing tension and a "nefarious plot" with humor isn't easy, yet I really liked the balance achieved in this book.Noah stole my heart from the first page. He is so unbelievably clueless, naïve, and inexperienced. And yet he manages to survive and teach those around him a few things as well. He keeps a cool head in a crisis (half the time because he doesn’t even seem to understand there IS a crisis), and his reactions to Gage's initial brutality are amazingly sane. He kept his sense of humor while under threat of getting killed; instead of being shocked or scared when Gage carjacks him, he insists Gage put on his seat belt; instead of pleading for his life once Gage tells him he has to shoot him, he makes sure his cat will be taken care of after he is gone. And when push comes to shove, Noah shows his true colors without hesitation. What a guy!Gage annoyed the heck out of me, and not just because he's a hired killer. He doesn’t seem to be a very good one, at least he isn’t where Noah is concerned. I guess Noah just addles his brain to the point where Gage isn’t his normal cold, bloodthirsty self. As the story develops, he redeems himself through the way he ends up listening to Noah, even protecting him in the end. The development from cold assassin to caring mate is remarkable, and initially goes unnoticed because Gage does his best to ignore it all. Nobody can resist Noah’s charms though, and I greatly enjoyed Gage falling for the diminutive-looking man.Between the two of them they entertained me, dragged me with them through their amazing adventures, and endeared themselves to me through the way they fell for each other. If you like slightly unusual shifters, action/adventure and a bit of mystery, and are looking for an entertaining read that is very likely to make you laugh, you will probably like this novel as much as I did.NOTE: This book was provided by Siren Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews.

I LOVED Noah at the beginning! His OCD. His reaction to Gage. But then that suddenly disappeared as soon as he shifted. It felt like he almost completely lost that in favor of either being horny or depressed or confused. If he really was OCD, wouldn't it have just gotten worse because of those emotions. His way of dealing, so to speak? I mean, I understand the situation, and I though the plot was decent, but his awesome quirks at the beginning just never stuck.I mean, he never fixed the bookcase! God that drove me bonkers, because I felt like he should not have been able to forget about it.And Gage never really show'd his "killer characteristic's" like I hoped he would. I mean, I saw the emotional stunt that he had because of it, but not the physical side. He kind of just got weak and companionate out of nowhere.Add in a little anticlimactic-ness and I was sad this book didn't turn out to be as good as I had hoped.

OMG. A Stormy Glenn book that is actually well written! I had to give it 4* for its lack of typos every other page and decent character development. Stormy has never had a problem with the smut writing. The reason I subject myself to her writing every now and then is that the tried and true PNR dom/sub big bad alpha/little sweet mate totally does it for me. Since that is the basis of every Stormy Glenn (and Joyee Flynn, Carol Lynne, etc.) book I have ever read, I keep coming back for a fix. They are light, fluffy easy brain candy with hot man on man smut. This one really surprised me. From the start, Noah's quirky character came out in the writing. He was adorable! And weird! In an adorable way! I was surprised that the whole pnr/shifter thing didn't come out until pretty far in the book. So, this included the same things that I like with a much, much better story/writing style/editing. If all of her books could be this well done, I would read them all. Well. I will probably read them all anyway.

Loved It!! Loved Noah right away. He's a little OCD, (OK a lot)reading the blurb I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and this was above what I thought, I liked it as well as Stormy's of shapeshifter series. And can't wait till more from this series comes out!! It's a different take on shifters, not just cause of cats but it's got a little different twist to it.It hard to say to much about it without giving away to much of the story. but if you liked her other shifter series, I'm sure you will like this new series also. Wonderful new series Stormy!

2014 Re-read:Ah, it’s best not to look too closely at the logic of this. If you’re about to kill someone I am fairly certain the last thing you’d want to do is leave semen inside their body. Just sayin’. I mean Gage is worrying about leaving bite marks but not about leaving DNA?I really can’t explain why I like this book so much, even now at the second reading. It’s full of holes and things that make no sense. And awfully convenient little solutions.Or Gage thinking early on how he never fails a mission, yet towards the end he thinks back on his last three missions and they were all failures. Plenty of stuff like that. But it’s also simply cute and fun.2011 Review:Okay, wow. I’ve in the past few days and during the last year or so read several books by this author and at best I find her work kinda amusing and mushy, at worst completely pointless, stupid and annoying. But this? It’s like this was written by a different author. It was so touching that I almost cried even just a few pages in and extremely funny and unusual, in that one of the main characters is slow in thinking and somewhat challenged in understanding since he lives in his own little world.Add in the somewhat crude but enthusiastic sex and the grim and gritty of an assassin’s kinda-sorta near-reality (because yeah, our other hero really is a remorseless killer even when it comes to innocent witnesses) and you have the most interesting mix.Oh god, at times it made me laugh so hard."Dude, your cat has a cat?"*snickers*I like that Gage remained relatively believable in his killer ways. He might have fallen in love fast but he basically remained true to his non-mushy and cold self. Sort of. Marginally more than you usually find in romance-hero-assassins, anyhow. (Can’t believe I wrote that, but yeah, that’s an actual stereotype.)Heh, dear lord, Noah’s cleaning obsession… I love this book.

So funny, so cute, and oh, so hot! Noah's OCD quirks were hilarious, and the chemistry between him and Gage was sizzling enough to forgive any edit errors and bump this up to a 5 star entertaining read. I can't wait to read the next in the series.

I give this book 3.5 stars.I would have given this story more stars for the satisfaction that I felt upon completing the read, but I felt the plot of the story was over-shadowed by the erotic content a bit too much for my liking. Also, it took a fair amount of time for the plot to be established and to get going. For the first 5 chapters I was frequently left wondering exactly what this book was about.I did however enjoyed the characters. Although their basic nature was a tad formalistic (Alpha Male meets his Twink mate). The MC’s quirky ways helped to expand the uniqueness of their relationship shaping them into a sweet couple.I have to say that this story has a lot and I mean a lot of sex.I enjoy a book with its share of intimacy, provided that the scenes fit into the story flow. However I have to say that there were sex scenes that simply did not fit the context of the situation. (view spoiler)[ Like the scene where the second set of assassins were at the door of the apartment complex on their way to kill Noah, and our two main characters are fully aware where the bad guys are, yet they take time for a hot sexy make out scene?(hide spoiler)] What? *shakes head * Talk about breaking the flow of the ‘fight for your lives’ suspense. Now, where were we again?I felt that there was a nice plot resolution for this book, and yet it left enough room for more adventures in this series. So over all I felt the story was enjoyable. If not for the moments of lost direction, and the slow start to the plot, it would have been areally good read.

This is one of the weirdest books I have ever read - weird in a good way....It is about a cat shifter and when I say cat shifter, I don't mean a lion or a tiger or something bad and powerful. The story is about a "domestic" cat shifter, a kitty cat, a little furball. Domestic cat shifters are very rare in paranormal romance. Just this characteristic makes the book unique and it deserves an extra star.Noah is a bit naive young man who likes living alone with his cat Precious. He suffers from a mild Obsessive Compulsory Disorder and he knows that someday someone will kill him. It is inevitable. As we discover later Gage has a big secret involving a Kingdom and his bad uncle Geraldo. One afternoon he gets into trouble when he gives a lift to a trained assassin, Gage. Gage follows Noah home where they ended up in a hot shower together. And the adventure begins...To be honest, I was not sure this was truly a shifter's book until after page 70 and this was a big surprise. After the first shifting there was a lot of purring. And I mean A LOT OF PURRING. The guy was purring almost in every situation and every other page. But it is ok, I love cats :)Needless to say, I enjoyed the book!

This was a really cute story about a guy who turns into a house cat only after he has sex for the first time and he just so happens to have it with the man who's going to kill him.Noah and Gage are definitely up high on my list of cute couples. Gage being an assassin and Noah a house cat with OCD was just too adorable. The beginning cracked me up with Noah's almost robotic-like actions and his constant need to clean up before he forgets to do it. I picture his apartment to be like a sterilized psychiatric room, in the sense of cleanliness. Lol I found the plot quite interesting with how Noah's mom has kept him hidden from his uncle and how getting rid of his virginity is what causes him to shift into a kitty and then ultimately brings about all the people trying to kill him. Of course, Gage was trying to kill him because he was a (kind of) witness to a job Gage was on. All in all, a really cute story. I'm looking forward to the next book in the Assassin's Pride series and hopefully more about the cats. Recommended :D

From the synopsis, this one sounded like it had many of the elements that I love in an erotic romance. I really wanted to like it, but I kept getting bored, would put it down to read something else, then come back to it later to try again. Eventually I just had to give up.Even though I'm a cat lover, I found it to be a little too "cutsie" for my tastes. I have a soft spot for shy, quirky characters, so I really adored Noah. He's the sole reason why I kept trying to finish the story. But Gage didn't do anything for me at all, and I wasn't feeling any real chemistry between the two of them. So that pretty much killed my interest right there.Normally, if I can't finish a book I'll give it 1 star, but I just didn't have the heart to do that in this case since I loved Noah so much. But the rest of it, well...there were just too many things that didn't work for me.

'The cat's meow' showed a lot of promise in the beginning, and I was excited to read it. I mean, come on - a killer and a clueless boy? Yeah, bring it on baby!! There's always a 'but' though and... here it comes....BUT, even though the blurb said that 'Gage Tynan is a killer', the author portrayed him as a much, much softer character; not to mention sweet. I wasn't too disappointed since I love fluff, but this was too much because of the way the blurb leads you to believe that Gage would be more... hard. I don't know. It just seems to me that Gage is a normal person rather than a killer (he didn't kill a single person in the book, how's that a killer?).Overall though, the book's a good way to pass the time.

“Will you take my cat?”Gage’s jaw nearly dropped as he stared at Noah in shock. “I’m here to kill you, and you want to know if I will take your cat?” he asked, his voice clipped.“Precious gets very upset if she’s left alone for too long. She might make a mess.” Noah hurried across the room to the corner, bending over to pick up the biggest long-haired mongrel cat Gage had ever seen. This was Precious? She looked like she could eat an entire side of beef all by herself and still be hungry.“She’s a very good girl,” Noah continued as he carried the huge cat back over to Gage. “I have food for her and everything. I could pack it for you along with her bed and blankets, her toys. It wouldn’t take long, I promise.”“Noah, I’m here to kill you,” Gage said slowly just in case Noah didn’t understand. Maybe the man wasn’t as smart as he first thought. “I am not here to make friends with your cat.”It has been quite awhile since I read ‘The Cat’s Meow’ and since a dear friend reminded me of it..... well, you know how that goes, right? The strange thing was I couldn’t locate my copy of this book and I ended up buying it again. The only thing I can think of is that the original publisher screwed over a ton of authors and perhaps my copy just disappeared from my Kindle library? I’m not complaining, mind you, buying a Stormy Glenn story is certainly no hardship *grins*I fell in love with Noah from the first moment. How could I not? He’s neurotic, has some quirks, and is lonely beyond belief. He may not think along the lines of what is considered “normal” but I thought he was a breath of fresh air. Of course, once Gage finds out exactly what Noah is, and the repercussions for Gage having taken Noah’s virginity, that’s when the fun really begins. I still adore this book and Gage and Noah, especially Noah, are still two of my all-time favorite characters.

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm I picked this book just because I loved the title and I love this author and it didn't hurt that it was about a shifter and a tough alpha male. I loved the fatalistic view that Noah has in this book, it gave the whole story a really innocent feel they made me love Noah and I love Gage for really looking at Noah and seeing past his oddness. As the story unfolds we get to really understand Noah's mind set and we get to see Gage change his whole life to be with Noah. There is just something about these two men and the people who gather around them that is just so addictive and I am hoping that the next book in this series comes soon. I was going to email the author and ask about book 2 and when it will be coming but it looks like it is in the works, but I really want to read more about these people so i might just have to email anyway!!I did email the author and to see the reply pop along to the review on my blog!!

Poor, wonderful, fun, slightly neurotic Noah. I thought he was the cutest thing. The sex was enjoyable and I liked the overall story. I would have liked to see Noah and Gage spend a little longer together in the "running" phase before Gage got the big reveal. That way Gage's feelings could grow on him. He accepted his emotions a little too fast for the way he'd grown up and been trained.I also would have liked a chance to meet the uncle. He was just a name and we never got a chance to see his motivations.I'm sure this one is a series, but with a background story arc regarding Gage's professional issues, and those I like.

Liked the story, but felt like I read it all before. Not the story itself, but the characters and their behavior seemed very similar to me to some of the other few stories that I've read from this author. Like the same formula being used or some check list being crossed off. If it would've been the first or second story I read from this author, I think I would've enjoyed it much more, but through most of the read I kept getting a sense of deja-vu.

This was such a cute book. I think I will always remember it. (view spoiler)[Where else can you find a situation where an assassin comes to make a kill and decides to help the person instead or where the guy to be killed asks the assassin to make sure his cat is okay? (hide spoiler)] I loved the hilarious parts of the book and how bad Noah's OCD is. Having OCD, I can kinda relate to him.I also love the supernatural quality to the book. I went into the book knowing that shifters would be in it. I just wasn't expecting them to appear like they did. Great story. I can't wait to read more from the series.
