China Caravans: An American Adventurer in Old China Reviews
This is part of the book, Guns, Gold & Caravans, by the same author. This shortened version, while a good tale, misses the early history of Fred Meyer Schroder, and as such, is not as good a read. But, as a introduction to the longer book, it'll do.....
Only 4 stars because the better book in this "series" is Guns, Gold and Caravans which is the same biography but longer. Includes Fred Meyer Schroder's early life in Southern California and his time in Alaska during the gold rush.
An excellent brief memoir of one man's travels and adventure in turn of the century China. It was great to read about his travels and learn about places that I saw in the early 90's.
