Flax To Fabric: Story Of Irish Linen Reviews
I read this book as the earliest ancestors in Ireland I have been able to find so far gave their occupation as "weavers" in the 1851 Census. It was a fascinating book to me, not so much for it's story of linen but because of this association to my heritage. I had imagined my ancestors working in mills in and around Lisburn, but now know that another option could have been that they worked from home. It also hinted at some other lines to follow with my genealogy with one of the biggest producers expanding to New Jersey in 1852 and taking a large Irish workforce with him. Let the detective work continue.
