Agent C Reviews
I had the privilege of beta reading this wonderful new addition to Christian spy fiction and I can highly recommend this to anyone looking for classic and clean action / adventure! Full review pending!
Wowee! I am delightfully surprised by this young, debut author. As soon as I picked up this book, I was instantly drawn into the story. It kept my interest throughout, especially in the last third. The story - while seemingly a bit far-fetched - was still believable, and the action especially was well done. There were never any "Okay, really? That is totally not possible for a human being to do" moments, as there often are in books of this genre. It was all very believable, which speaks well to the author's talent. I finished this in less than 24 hours, which also speaks to the author's talent. The biblical themes were well-portrayed thoughout, and the issues with being a Christian FBI were unique and eye-opening. The characters were all quite good. Nate was realistic and believable. He definitely had his flaws, which I liked. I would have wished for a little more "heart conflict\resolution" to go on a little earlier in the book, but the internal struggle was still well-portrayed. Max was also a fantastic character - hilarious, yet serious, and very relatable. The other supporting characters, such as the Vicroys, were also well done. I kind of felt like there was a lot of "fighting-for-no-reason" (conflict that didn't really move the story along) going on, which was frustrating in parts. Also, my other main issue with the story would be the numerous typos throughout. Missing commas and other punctuation, misspelled homonyms, etc, bothered me. But, I do tend to be more picky than your average reader when it comes to that, so it may not bug you as it bugged me. I'd say the biggest reason I loved this book so much, was because it was a clean, Christian spy book. In my experience, I can't put the words "clean" and "spy book" in the same sentence. It is frustratingly hard to find clean, enjoyable books in this genre, so this one was especially refreshing for that reason. All in all, I think Cyr has a real gift for storytelling, and I sincerely hopes he continues to use that gift. The world needs more books like this - clean, inspirational thrillers. Highly recommended!CONTENT NOTE: There are numerous deaths, fight scenes, gunshots, knife\bullet wounds, etc. While Cyr certainly handles these very tactfully, and with a minimal amount of blood\gore, I would recommend this book for ages 14+ for that reason.
I had the privilege of beta-reading this exciting book! Review and final rating to come upon a re-read. ;)
This book was amazing!!!! The plot was very well written, and the characters were great! But overall, I really enjoyed reading this mysterious novel. Good job Malachi!
